Products / 800G VR8 / SR8
Overview
The multimode 800G module for short links inside a row or a hall. Two independent 400G ports share one OSFP cage, so a single switch port can feed two 400G NICs or two 400G switch ports over standard OM4 trunks.
VR optics trade reach for cost: 50 m on OM4 covers most GPU-to-leaf runs inside a pod. If your runs are longer, 2×DR4 on single-mode fiber reaches 500 m.
Typical uses
- GPU server to leaf switch inside a row
- Leaf to spine within one data hall, up to 50 m
- One 800G switch port broken out to two 400G ports

Power, DSP and temperature are the manufacturer's datasheet values. Reach, lanes, wavelengths and connectors follow the standards: IEEE 802.3 · OSFP MSA · 100G Lambda MSA. The full datasheet comes with each quote. Updated September 28, 2026.
What it costs elsewhere
Lowest public single-unit price in each channel, new modules, read from public web pages on September 25–28, 2026. US channel brands are TAA-compliant with lifetime warranties; ours are not TAA-compliant. Asia-shipped prices exclude US import duty and freight. Method and full ranges: price index.
800G OSFP 2×VR4 (VR8), 50 m, OM4
OEM list prices for this type run $1,825–$9,173; almost nobody pays list.
Questions
VR8 or SR8: which do I need?
Measure your longest run. IEEE 100GBASE-VR1 is specified to 50 m on OM4 and 100GBASE-SR1 to 100 m. We quote VR8 by default; SR8 is available on request.
Can I use OM3 fiber?
Yes, at shorter reach: the VR specification allows 30 m on OM3. OM4 or better is the usual choice for new builds.
How does it connect to two 400G NICs?
With two MPO-12 multimode cables, one per port. Each port runs as an independent 400G link on four 100G lanes.
